HP Tech Ventures and Dyndrite are connecting emerging companies and investors building the future of digital manufacturing with our upcoming event, Digital Manufacturing Investor Day (DMID). On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, the virtual pitch event will feature a selection of innovative companies transforming the digital manufacturing landscape, building on the initial, successful DMID 2020 event that was held in June 2020.

Partnerships make anything possible

It all began with HP Multi Jet Fusion, unlocking the full potential of 3D printing. Since then, we have taken an active role in advancing the additive manufacturing industry and enabling digital manufacturing at scale. At HP Tech Ventures, we drive strategic partnerships and investments in the Additive Manufacturing space, bridging the gap between startups and our business units to scale the global marketplace.

That’s where our relationship with Dyndrite comes into play. The strategic partnership led to the creation of HP’s Universal Build Manager powered by Dyndrite. By simplifying and automating the build preparation across all your additive process technologies through a single software platform, the Universal Build Manager powered by Dyndrite is the industry’s first GPU-accelerated, additive manufacturing build prep and management solution.

“Startups and emerging companies are the lifeblood of the dynamic digital manufacturing industry. HP Tech Ventures is excited to be working with Dyndrite to deliver the second Digital Manufacturing Investor Day event,” said James Taylor, Venture Partner at HP Tech Ventures. “The pandemic continues to impact startups’ ability to raise capital. DMID provides a vibrant forum where investors and startups can connect to fuel continued innovation and growth.”

The future of digital manufacturing

Digital manufacturing technology gained momentum during 2020, helping to strengthen disrupted supply chains and address the worldwide shortage of PPE triggered by COVID-19. It’s time to rethink the worldwide supply chain and continue to innovate with additive manufacturing.

“It is inspiring to see how the manufacturing industry has galvanized to supply healthcare providers and hospitals with life-saving medical equipment, and it’s even more impressive considering that we haven’t seen this level of manufacturing overhaul since World War II,” said James Taylor.

However, there is a lot to be done to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing. It requires the discovery of new applications, additional advanced materials, innovative design software solutions from voxel design to metrology, as well as new product, factory, and supply chain digital twins.

“We’re at a key inflection point in market adoption and usage expansion of digital manufacturing and industry leadership is needed to ensure the continued health and growth of emerging companies within this space,” asserted Harshil Goel, CEO of Dyndrite.

“With a limited workforce and dramatic changes in demand and supply, manufacturers are facing unprecedented levels of disruption that will impact the manufacturing industry far into the future. Domestic manufacturing, in particular, will likely see a revival. Before the pandemic, Western countries had become reliant on outsourced labor and supplies, a co-dependence that created significant problems when Covid-19 began to impact the supply chain. The reaction could incentivize governments to rebuild domestic manufacturing and invest further into robotics and automation, creating new jobs for digitally savvy workers. Fast paced startups are leading the way with key innovations that corporate partners can commercialize to scale into the marketplace,” said James Taylor.
